Biodiversity and Water Quality in L’Albufera de Valencia
L’Albufera of Valencia, a vital wetland for the conservation of nature.
A 2.100 hectare lake, source of biodiversity, with the challenge of recuperating its crystal clear waters.
A 14.000 hectare marsh, habitat of great value, ruled by rice cultivation.
3 artificial wetlands, old rice fields transformed into green filters and natural reserves.
3 landmark NGOs in the Natural Park of L’Albufera, 1 university and 3 public administrations, have partnered up in the LIFE Albufera project, with a threefold objective:
- 3 European directives (WATER, HABITATS AND BIRDS) which can be implemented in all three artificial wetlands of Tancat de la Pipa, Tancat de Milia and Tancat de L’Illa.
Visit us and find out how these three artificial wetlands can improve water quality, be a suitable habitat and support bird conservation.
